Liz Hallett has been elected as the interim chair of the Welsh Pharmacy Board, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has announced.
She will serve until the inaugural elections to the three National Pharmacy Advisory Councils in March 2026. Following those elections, a new Council Chair for the Welsh Pharmacy Advisory Council will be elected by Council members. The inaugural elections will form part of the new governance structure of the future Royal College of Pharmacy.
This election follows the appointment of the former chair of the Welsh Pharmacy Board, Geraldine McCaffrey, as the RPS director for Wales.
Ms Hallett has had a career encompassing community pharmacy, GP practice, primary care, prison healthcare, care homes, and education. “This breadth of experience has given me a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing pharmacy,” she says.
“I have seen first-hand the pressures on workforce, medicines optimisation, and service delivery, and I am committed to ensuring that the voice of pharmacists is heard at every level of decision-making.”
